Paintings

Archive 2000-2006

After a hiatus of fifteen years, I returned to painting in 2000-this time on panel. This change was brought about because my daughter was ready for college and I had more time to work consistently in the studio. A summer class in Greece and Italy to study ancient art and architecture in the summer of 2000 also contributed to my renewed interest in the medium and to the imagery of ancient architecture and Biblical themes like the Annunciation, Resurrection and Renewal. These images are not religious, but rather personal statements that draw on that visual tradition - a language familiar to many. In addition, some of this work also is my attempt to process the tragedy of 9/11 — the Homeland Security Series
